Does the library have citation generators?

Answer

The library does not subscribe to any citation generators, however there are free ones out there that may be useful:

Citation Builder | NCSU Libraries and Free APA Citation Generator [Updated for 2024] (mybib.com) are completely free and require no account.

When using these ALWAYS double-check these against the actual APA citation guide. For example, here’s how the mybib.com generator creates a citation vs. how NLM does it:

NLM:

Drevdahl D. (2002). Social justice or market justice? The paradoxes of public health partnerships with managed care. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.), 19(3), 161–169. https://doi.org/10.1046/j.0737-1209.2002.19313.x

MyBib.com:

Drevdahl, D. (2002). Social Justice or Market Justice? The Paradoxes of Public Health Partnerships with Managed Care. Public Health Nursing, 19(3), 161–169. https://doi.org/10.1046/j.0737-1209.2002.19313.x

NLM includes the location (Boston, Mass.) while MyBib.com doesn’t include the location. This doesn’t necessarily mean the location is required in your citation, it’s just important to note that generators will cite differently, so you’ll want to check the APA style guide - or just take a quick look on the APA Style website page on references and see if they have any examples: References (apa.org)

In addition to free citation builders, there are also free citation managers. These are applications that not only generate citations but manage a full bibliography and can often include footnotes, in-text citations, and works cited views of any citations you create with them. Examples of citation manager tools you might consider include ZoteroEndNote Basic, or Mendeley. The Cowles Library offers a good breakdown of these options: Citation Managers - Research Support - Cowles Library at Drake University
